Staff Engineer

Responsibilities

• Determine project scope and specifications with substantial latitude for decision-making
• Resolve complex technical issues and explain UL procedures and requirements to clients
• Plan, conduct, and supervise projects of major magnitude and scope
• Develop UL requirements for testing products beyond the scope of existing standards
• Develop special test methods and test equipment
• Represent UL on technical committees of national and/or international organizations
• Provide leadership, technical advice, and mentorship to staff on complex or unusual projects
• Coordinate complex laboratory activities and administrative aspects of project management

Requirements

• University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program
• Directly related work experience in a technical engineering capacity
• Detailed knowledge of technical vocabulary within the appropriate discipline
• Working knowledge of conformity standards in areas of expertise
• Demonstrated ability to apply project-handling concepts to complex, new, or unusual products
• Working knowledge of current industry issues, needs, and problems

Benefits

• Competitive salary range of $154,000 - $192,000 based on experience and location
• Annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of base salary
