Staff Engineer, Trading Automation and Backend Platforms

Responsibilities

• Define and own the long-term technical architecture for trading automation, risk, and post-trade platforms
• Translate complex business problems into executable technical roadmaps
• Architect scalable, event-driven systems optimized for high throughput and reliability
• Elevate engineering standards regarding system design, observability, and scalability
• Mentor senior engineers and guide tech leads to drive technical alignment
• Partner with trading, quant, risk, and operations teams to align technical choices with business value
• Drive automation in post-trade and middle-office workflows to reduce operational risk

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience at a Staff, Principal, or Lead level
• Proven ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholders
• Deep expertise in building distributed, high-performance backend systems
• Proficiency in Python, Go, C++, or Java
• Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Flink, Databricks, Dataproc)
• Solid understanding of modern infrastructure, observability, and cloud platforms

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of financial workflows such as ETF creation/redemption, clearing, or custody
• Experience with financial reference data or instrument modeling
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks like MiFID II, EMIR, or SFTR
• Background in financial services, trading, or market making
• Strong working knowledge of the trading lifecycle
