Staff Engineer – RISC-V Software

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the architecture and software development of debug and performance monitoring features for RISC-V.
• Drive upstream contributions to OpenSBI and the Linux kernel to ensure long-term maintainability and community alignment.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to enable the software stack on silicon and emulation platforms.
• Debug complex hardware-software interactions and ensure seamless integration.
• Guide the integration of compliance test suites for RISC-V specifications.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in low-level system programming.
• Strong understanding of performance monitoring and hardware debug features in major architectures (x86, ARM, or RISC-V).
• Proficiency in C, C++, or Python.
• Advanced debugging skills using tools such as ftrace, perf, kgdb, crash, and kernel logs.
• Experience with version control systems including Git, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct exposure to the RISC-V architecture.
• Deep understanding of Linux perf subsystem, ptrace subsystem, and Linux tracing support.
• Proven track record of upstreaming patches to the Linux kernel community.
• Experience with platform or SoC bring-up on silicon, emulation, and simulation platforms.
• Experience working with industry standard groups to propose specification changes.
• Contributions to or maintainership of open-source projects.
• Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
