Staff Engineer - Project Engineer (PE) and Integration Lead – APTECH (Linux and Multimedia)

Responsibilities

• Own technical planning, execution, and delivery of product software milestones across platform bring-up, stabilization, and releases.
• Drive BSP and platform enablement for SoCs, including bootloader, kernel, device tree, drivers, root filesystem, and multimedia subsystems.
• Act as the single technical point of ownership connecting kernel, Yocto/OWRT build, middleware, multimedia, validation, and security teams.
• Provide technical guidance on Linux kernel internals, Device Tree, Yocto/OWRT build systems, and platform boot flows (UEFI, U-Boot).
• Drive root cause analysis and resolution of system-level issues related to boot, stability, performance, and CVEs.
• Promote upstream-first and open-source compliance practices, including reviewing patches for quality and maintainability.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in Linux kernel internals (drivers, power, memory, scheduling, security).
• Hands-on experience with embedded Linux BSP development.
• Proficiency with Yocto/OWRT Project, BitBake, and Device Tree (DTS/DTB, overlays).
• Experience with bootloaders such as UEFI and U-Boot.
• Experience with ARM-based SoCs and hardware bring-up.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or Python.
• Proven ability to drive complex, multi-team technical programs and manage dependencies and risks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with mainline Linux development or making upstream contributions.
• Exposure to virtualization technologies such as KVM, Xen, or Gunyah, or experience with containers.
• Experience with security hardening, CVE management, and compliance.
• Prior experience serving as a Tech Lead, System Lead, or Project Engineer for platform software.
