About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for Laboratory IT systems, including sample coordination and test case generation.
- Coordinate, manage, and implement automation, IT, and software applications within a clinical laboratory environment.
- Develop process architectures and functional specifications based on user and workflow requirements.
- Collaborate with end users and LIS developers to design requirements for new test systems and implement changes.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to service engineers, laboratory technicians, and junior team members.
- Manage moderately complex projects, including the selection, integration, and commissioning of new automation and IT systems.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to drive cost reduction and laboratory efficiency.
- Ensure all instrumentation and automation meet safety requirements and regulatory compliance standards (FDA, CLIA, CAP).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (or an Associate's degree in Engineering/Technology with 2+ years of relevant experience).
- 6+ years of engineering experience in a relevant industry.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering theories, practices, and procedures.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex laboratory anomalies and manage competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or Engineering.
- 2+ years of experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or integrating LIMS with automated systems.
- Experience in process optimization involving complex workflows with both hardware and software components.
- Experience working in a CAP/CLIA or other highly regulated production environment.
- Advanced knowledge of databases and file management applications.
