Staff Engineer, Process Dev & Automation

Responsibilities

• Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for Laboratory IT systems, including sample coordination and test case generation.
• Coordinate, manage, and implement automation, IT, and software applications within a clinical laboratory environment.
• Develop process architectures and functional specifications based on user and workflow requirements.
• Collaborate with end users and LIS developers to design requirements for new test systems and implement changes.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to service engineers, laboratory technicians, and junior team members.
• Manage moderately complex projects, including the selection, integration, and commissioning of new automation and IT systems.
• Lead continuous improvement projects to drive cost reduction and laboratory efficiency.
• Ensure all instrumentation and automation meet safety requirements and regulatory compliance standards (FDA, CLIA, CAP).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (or an Associate's degree in Engineering/Technology with 2+ years of relevant experience).
• 6+ years of engineering experience in a relevant industry.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering theories, practices, and procedures.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex laboratory anomalies and manage competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or integrating LIMS with automated systems.
• Experience in process optimization involving complex workflows with both hardware and software components.
• Experience working in a CAP/CLIA or other highly regulated production environment.
• Advanced knowledge of databases and file management applications.
