About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and analyze first and next-generation products, machines, fixturing, and components with a focus on robustness.
- Interface with Research, Development, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to support innovation and new product lines.
- Solve complex mechanical engineering problems and develop a deep understanding of process requirements to influence equipment performance.
- Integrate commercially available technologies and leverage external machine builders and system integrators.
- Utilize internal lab facilities to develop proof-of-concept prototypes.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including controls engineers, process engineers, and optical/glass scientists.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of professional engineering experience.
- Proven experience in designing and building complex mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or Inventor.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with metrology tools and techniques (e.g., CMM, laser interferometer).
- Strong knowledge of precision machining techniques and materials.
- Experience researching prior art and documenting Intellectual Property.
- Strong understanding of precision engineering principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
