Staff Engineer

About the Company

Mercura (YC W25) helps companies in the real world move at software speed by automating back-office work for massive industries like hospitals, schools, and power plants. We are a high-growth team of 16, scaling from $2M ARR to target $10M by 2026.

Responsibilities

• Own complex engineering work across the product suite, including core systems and shared frameworks
• Define and evolve cross-product architecture to prevent long-term technical debt
• Write and ship high-quality production code as a hands-on technical leader
• Refactor abstractions and raise reliability and engineering standards across all teams
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and direct feedback
• Contribute to the architecture and implementation of AI capabilities and LLM pipelines

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience solving hard technical problems
• Deep expertise in backend systems, APIs, and infrastructure
• Proficiency in Python, React, and TypeScript
• Experience designing and evolving systems across multiple products and teams
• Fluency in Cloud & DevOps (Docker, Azure/AWS/GCP, Terraform)
• Experience with AI systems, LLMs, or large-scale data pipelines is a plus
• Ability to work in-person in Munich with high intensity
