Staff Engineer, Hardware Development Engineering

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute experiments to evaluate HDD performance using advanced spacing characterization, tribology, and metrology tools
• Apply statistical analysis to interpret experimental data and provide design improvement recommendations
• Develop automation scripts in Python to streamline data processing and report generation
• Lead projects and oversee daily tester operations, including troubleshooting and methodology refinement
• Collaborate with global teams to plan and execute spacing characterization initiatives

Requirements

• Master's degree in Applied Physics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field with 3+ years of experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5+ years of experience
• Professional experience in tribology, physical characterization, and metrology
• Proficiency in Python programming
• Intermediate skills in statistical tools such as JMP and Minitab
• Strong understanding of electronics, physics, materials, and magnetic theory fundamentals
• Ability to work onsite in Biñan City, Philippines, on a dayshift schedule

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry exposure in Semiconductor or Electronics manufacturing
• Direct experience in HDD or HGA-disk tribology
• Experience in HDD/magnetic head test engineering
• Proficiency in LabView or instrument integration and control
• Experience in signal processing or software/firmware development
