About the role

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute experiments to evaluate HDD performance using advanced spacing characterization, tribology, and metrology tools.
  • Apply statistical analysis to interpret experimental data and derive meaningful insights for design improvements.
  • Generate comprehensive technical reports summarizing test results and findings.
  • Develop automation scripts in Python to streamline data processing and report generation.
  • Lead projects and oversee daily tester operations, including troubleshooting and refining test methodologies.
  • Collaborate with global counterparts to plan and execute spacing characterization initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Applied Physics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field with 3+ years of professional experience in tribology, physical characterization, and metrology.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in Applied Physics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field with 5+ years of professional experience in the same areas.
  • Proficiency in Python programming.
  • Intermediate skills in statistical tools such as JMP and Minitab.
  • Strong understanding of electronics, physics, materials, and magnetic theory fundamentals.
  • Ability to work onsite in Biñan City, Philippines, on a day shift schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry exposure in Semiconductor or Electronics manufacturing.
  • Direct experience in HDD or HGA-disk tribology.
  • Experience in HDD/magnetic head test engineering.
  • Experience with signal processing, software/firmware development, or LabView.
  • Extensive experience working in science or experimental laboratories.
