Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute experiments to evaluate HDD performance using advanced spacing characterization, tribology, and metrology tools
  • Apply statistical analysis to interpret experimental data and derive meaningful insights
  • Generate comprehensive reports and provide recommendations for design improvements
  • Develop automation scripts in Python to streamline data processing and report generation
  • Lead projects and oversee daily tester operations, including troubleshooting and methodology refinement
  • Collaborate with global counterparts to plan and execute spacing characterization initiatives

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Applied Physics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field with 3+ years of professional experience
  • OR Bachelor's degree in Applied Physics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field with 5+ years of professional experience
  • Proficiency in Python programming
  • Intermediate skills in statistical tools such as JMP or Minitab
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Power BI
  • Strong understanding of electronics, physics, materials, and magnetic theory fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry exposure in Semiconductor or Electronics manufacturing
  • Direct experience in HDD or HGA-disk tribology
  • Experience in HDD/magnetic head test engineering
  • Experience in signal processing, software/firmware development, or LabView instrument integration
  • Extensive experience working in science or experimental laboratories
