Staff Engineer, FinOps

Responsibilities

• Own the cost and vendor data platform by designing and maintaining pipelines that consolidate usage data across AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, and strategic AI/ML vendors.
• Partner with Engineering, Infrastructure, Product, and Finance to translate raw cost signals into actionable insights, recommendations, and architectural playbooks.
• Personally implement cost optimizations, including rightsizing, storage tiering, and query optimization, to drive direct savings.
• Build self-service FinOps tooling such as dashboards, alerts, and internal bots to help service owners track spend and identify waste.
• Establish and codify cost-efficient architectural standards within infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and review processes.
• Collaborate with Finance/FP&A to forecast short- and long-term spend and model the impact of new product or infrastructure bets.
• Lead cross-functional cost programs, such as observability optimization or AI vendor consolidation, from definition through execution.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in FinOps, SRE, Platform, or Infrastructure engineering.
• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript for building production-quality code and data pipelines.
• Extensive experience with AWS and cloud cost data (e.g., AWS CUR).
• Strong SQL and analytics skills to model complex cost and usage data into meaningful metrics.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Terraform for managing infrastructure and implementing optimizations.
• Proven track record of personally shipping infrastructure or configuration changes that resulted in measurable cost reductions.
