Staff Engineer

Responsibilities

• Bridge the gap between IT systems and laboratory automation by designing requirements for new test systems and implementing changes.
• Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for Laboratory IT systems, including LIS upgrades and validation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and enhance automated workflows in a complex clinical laboratory environment.
• Provide technical engineering support and troubleshooting for automation, IT, and software applications used in the lab.
• Manage complex projects involving instrumentation installation, maintenance, and continuous improvement to drive efficiency.
• Mentor service engineers and laboratory technicians, providing technical guidance and process expertise.
• Ensure all instrumentation and automation meet safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards (FDA, CLIA, CAP).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (or an Associate's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience).
• 8+ years of engineering experience in a relevant industry.
• Proven experience with laboratory automation and process workflows.
• Strong ability to manage complex projects, define protocols, and perform data-driven analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or LIS integration.
• Experience working in CAP/CLIA or other highly regulated production environments.
• Background in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or Biological Sciences.
• Expertise in process optimization involving complex software and hardware components.
