Staff Engineer Environmental

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee environmental assessments to identify compliance risks, systemic gaps, and mitigation strategies.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for environmental management systems, specifically leading ISO 14001 programs.
• Evaluate emerging environmental regulations and industry standards to assess business impacts and lead implementation.
• Provide advanced interpretation of environmental regulations and permit requirements to advise leadership on risk management.
• Analyze complex environmental data sets to identify trends and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
• Partner with operating facilities to establish and achieve short-term and long-term environmental performance goals.
• Design and deliver environmental training programs to ensure alignment with company policy and best practices.
• Lead root cause analyses and corrective action planning for environmental incidents and audit findings.
• Manage technical oversight for environmental remediation projects, coordinating with internal stakeholders and contractors.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to entry-level environmental engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is required.
• Strong working knowledge of local, national, and international environmental regulations.
• Demonstrated experience leading environmental compliance initiatives and projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, or environmental consulting.
• Certified Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
• Experience with ISO 14001 system leadership and multi-site implementation.
• Experience interfacing directly with regulatory agencies.
