Staff Engineer, EDA Business Strategy

Responsibilities

• Own strategic relationships with major EDA vendors including Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens EDA, and Keysight
• Lead multi-year EDA contract renewals and commercial negotiations in partnership with Procurement and Legal
• Define and maintain the enterprise EDA product portfolio across various design domains
• Drive license optimization and resource forecasting to improve engineering productivity and reduce costs
• Develop 3–5 year EDA technology roadmaps aligned with product and process node roadmaps
• Perform total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis and manage multi-million dollar EDA budgets
• Partner with Design Engineering, IT, and Compliance teams to ensure tool qualification and technical alignment

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in semiconductor design, EDA tool management, or CAD engineering
• Deep understanding of the EDA ecosystem and semiconductor design flows (analog/digital, physical verification, simulation, etc.)
• Proven experience negotiating enterprise software agreements with EDA vendors
• Strong analytical skills for license utilization analysis and cost modeling
• Experience managing multi-million dollar budgets
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical engineering teams and executive leadership

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in memory semiconductor design environments (DRAM, NAND, HBM)
• Familiarity with EDA licensing models and CAD infrastructure (Linux, HPC, license servers)
• Knowledge of AI/ML applications in semiconductor design and emerging AI-powered EDA tools
• Experience with EDA vendor qualification and tool release management processes
• MBA or formal business strategy experience
