Staff Engineer

Responsibilities

• Complete design plans and technical specifications for water distribution, treatment, and facility projects.
• Create bid documents and facilitate the bidding process for upcoming projects.
• Ensure contractor compliance with plans and specifications under the oversight of a licensed Professional Engineer.
• Provide inspection and administration for various construction projects.
• Perform engineering analyses related to new and existing infrastructure and facilities.
• Develop conceptual plans and cost estimates for future capital improvement projects.
• Serve as a project engineer for projects involving outside consultants, contractors, or internal crews.
• Conduct engineering studies regarding source water, treatment, and distribution systems.
• Review construction plans from developers and outside agencies for compliance with DMWW requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• 0 to 3 years of experience in the design and construction of water treatment, facilities, and process-related projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing civil, environmental, structural, mechanical, electrical, or chemical improvements within a municipal environment.
• Experience managing all phases of projects from conception to completion.
• IDNR Grade II Water Distribution Operator and/or Grade II Water Treatment Operator License.
