Staff Engineer, Control

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced control projects and define technology roadmaps for AI-based HVAC and energy system control solutions.
• Provide technical guidance on architecture definition, development, and project management for the Advanced Control team.
• Act as a senior technical leader for system design, supervisory control, data analytics, and model-based design (MBD).
• Manage pilot project activities to ensure completion on schedule, within budget, and to customer specifications.
• Establish standard work for system control solutions, including technical manuals, specifications, and training materials.
• Explore frontier technologies, including generative AI, for control optimization applications.
• Mentor and develop junior engineering personnel through coaching and technical oversight.
• Collaborate with global engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams to support strategic initiatives and new business development.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Controls, Automation, Mechatronics, HVAC/R, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of control development experience, specifically in system supervisory control, model-based control, and AI-based technologies.
• 3+ years of experience in a project leadership or management role.
• Expertise in model-based control design, algorithm development, and control system architecture.
• Proficiency in controller development software such as C, C++, Matlab, Simulink, or Python.
• Experience with real-time operating systems, communication protocols, and generative AI technologies.
• Strong understanding of HVAC/R and energy system working principles.
• Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Proven track record in HVAC system diagnostics and product controls.
