Staff Engineer, Backend Systems

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and execution of critical backend work streams including API platform and core data models
• Scale the API platform with multi-tenant isolation, versioning, and rate limits
• Partner with co-founders and product leadership to translate direction into architecture
• Explore and ship agentic capabilities requiring safe sandbox code execution
• Design and ship customer-defined CRM schemas without sacrificing performance
• Lead complex projects end-to-end from data model to API ergonomics
• Raise the bar through design leadership, code review, and technical mentorship

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems
• Proven experience in technical leadership roles (Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, etc.)
• Deep expertise with relational databases, specifically Postgres
• Experience designing and shipping APIs or platform-level systems
• Experience building for multi-tenant SaaS at scale
• Strong product instincts and ability to prioritize based on customer impact
• Ability to operate with high autonomy in a fast-moving, early-stage environment
