Staff Engineer, Backend

Responsibilities

• Drive architectural excellence and technical strategy across multiple product engineering pods
• Design low-latency systems for dynamic pricing, large-scale inventory processing, and vendor ecosystem management
• Lead systematic reduction of technical debt to improve deployment stability and scalability
• Own architectural decisions spanning multiple teams and influence through technical excellence
• Partner with Engineering Managers to balance technical excellence with delivery velocity
• Elevate engineering standards through design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience
• 5+ years in backend systems and distributed architectures
• Deep expertise in Spring Boot, Kotlin, and Java
• Strong foundation in distributed systems (eventual consistency, scalability, fault tolerance, CAP theorem)
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, and AWS
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and drive technical initiatives across organizational boundaries
• Exceptional problem-solving skills focused on performance, reliability, and scalability
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
