About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead high-level electrical architecture for quantum sensors, balancing size, weight, power, and performance (SWaPC)
- Own the full PCB development cycle from requirement gathering to performance verification
- Provide technical mentorship and conduct design reviews for the electrical engineering team
- Partner with physicists and mechanical, software, and optical engineers on system requirements
- Assist with board bring-up, debugging, and system-level integration
- Support manufacturing by troubleshooting issues and optimizing boards for yield and testability
- Maintain precise design records within a cloud-based PLM system
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 8–12 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 8+ years
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required for export control compliance
- 5+ years of professional experience in complex, mixed-signal PCBA designs
- Expertise in high-density PCB design including fine-pitch BGAs and high-speed differential pairs
- Deep understanding of SoCs, FPGAs, and MCUs
- Mastery of signal integrity, power distribution networks, and EMI/EMC-aware layout
- Proficiency with laboratory electronic instrumentation for hardware debugging
- Experience using PLM systems for design and ECO management
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced expertise in Altium Designer
- Experience designing RF circuits on traditional PCBs or ceramic substrates
- Experience integrating electronics with lasers, AOMs, and photodetectors
- Knowledge of thermal analysis and component derating
- Foundational skills in ASIC design, simulation, and verification
- Background in precision sensors, atomic clocks, or Inertial Navigation Systems (INS)
