About the role
Responsibilities
- Research, develop, and optimize electrical power systems, components, equipment, networks, and associated control systems
- Lead electrical installation and system integration design efforts, including utility interconnection and microgrid architectures
- Review and manage third-party EPC electrical designs while performing internal engineering activities
- Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash analyses
- Select electrical components and equipment based on engineering specifications and performance requirements
- Analyze operating data and system performance to validate designs and identify optimization opportunities
- Apply risk analysis techniques to evaluate power system failure modes and develop mitigation strategies
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to other engineers on complex engineering projects
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, external partners, and utility stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 10+ years of professional experience working with electrical power systems
- Experience designing large industrial power systems within EPC environments
- Experience with utility interconnection design and medium-voltage power distribution systems
- Strong knowledge of power system protection analysis and implementation
- Experience with medium-voltage systems, substation design, and SCADA systems
- Field experience supporting power generation assets like microgrids or energy storage
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Proficiency with power system modeling and simulation software
