Staff Data Scientist

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering teams to develop actionable insights that guide improvements to the Wayve AI Driver
• Formulate and iterate upon performance metrics to guide progress toward commercial success
• Design experiments and targeted off-road measurements to ensure product requirements and safety
• Investigate factors in model training and inference leading to bottlenecks in functionality and performance
• Validate hypotheses for unlocking improvements in model performance

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a Data Science role
• Proficiency in SQL for building large datasets and data-transformation pipelines
• Experience designing robust real-world experiments (e.g., A/B testing)
• Strong foundations in statistical fundamentals and distribution testing
• Proficiency in Python (pandas, sklearn, statsmodels, scipy) or R (dplyr, caret, stats)
• Ability to summarize, visualize, and communicate findings effectively
• Proven track record of influencing team direction through data findings
• Ability to work asynchronously across time zones

Preferred Qualifications

• Practical experience with machine learning frameworks like PyTorch
• Experience using causal inference, econometric techniques, or Bayesian methodologies
• Experience with large datasets and distributed computing (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)
• Experience working in a fast-moving tech company or startup
