Staff Data Scientist

Responsibilities

• Develop and formalize strategic understanding of key value drivers including user behavior, marketplace dynamics, and pricing
• Define long-term measurement and experimentation strategy for specific product domains
• Design and execute large-scale experimentation programs to measure business outcomes
• Lead deep analytical investigations into customer behavior and retention dynamics
• Own impact modeling and scenario analysis for major product initiatives
• Define and govern key metrics to ensure alignment with company objectives
• Act as a senior thought partner to product, engineering, and data leaders
• Lead cross-domain analytical initiatives such as LTV modeling and pricing strategy

Requirements

• Demonstrated track record of influencing product or business strategy in complex environments
• Expertise in experimentation and causal inference
• Strong understanding of subscription and marketplace economics (LTV, cohort dynamics, retention)
• High technical proficiency in SQL and Python
• Experience mentoring and guiding senior data scientists
• Ability to influence VP-level stakeholders and navigate conflicting incentives

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in 2-sided marketplaces or digital businesses (B2C, B2B2C)
• Experience with product analytics tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, or Heap
• Experience with advanced analytical methods such as forecasting and pricing optimization
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, or Power BI
• Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative field
