Staff Data Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the reliability and availability of the data platform infrastructure across all environments
• Enforce and improve environment promotion discipline
• Define and uphold SOPs around deployments, maintenance windows, and change management
• Instrument and monitor platform health using observability tooling
• Participate in architecture and deployment discussions
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers on infrastructure needs
• Identify and remediate reliability risks before they become incidents
• Support customer-facing and internal systems with a bias toward stability

Requirements

• 3+ years in cloud infrastructure, SRE, or platform engineering
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Knowledge of High Availability architecture (blue/green deployments, data replication, load balancing)
• Experience with workflow orchestration (Airflow or similar)
• Strong Linux fundamentals and scripting (Bash, Python)
• Experience with distributed data processing (Spark, PySpark)
• Proficiency with containerization (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Experience with data ingestion, ETL, or streaming systems (Kafka, Flink)
• Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, Helm)
• Experience with OLAP and OLTP databases (Clickhouse, Postgres, Redshift)
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Kibana)
• Understanding of network infrastructure (load balancers, DNS, auto-scaling)
• Knowledge of security and access management

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with managed data platforms like Databricks
• MLOps concepts or tooling
