Staff Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust, scalable backend systems for enterprise-wide analytics and AI-powered data assistants
• Spearhead the development of AI Data Assistants by creating intuitive, conversational interfaces for business users
• Engineer sophisticated data pipelines and data products for both traditional analytics and advanced AI needs
• Build semantic search capabilities to unlock insights from data warehouses, dashboards, and KPIs
• Design and manage a robust semantic and context layer to ensure data consistency and accessibility
• Partner with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to solve complex retail industry challenges
• Guide and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of innovation and technical excellence

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 9+ years of experience in Data Engineering with a track record of managing large-scale data solutions
• Proven expertise in architecting distributed backend systems in a cloud environment, preferably GCP
• Deep knowledge of data modeling, data architecture, and modern ETL/ELT pipeline design
• Hands-on experience deploying agentic AI systems leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Strong background in semantic search, vector databases, and information retrieval techniques
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a retail or e-commerce environment
• Previous experience building Conversational Analytics platforms or data agents
• Familiarity with agent development frameworks such as Agent Development Kit (ADK)
