Staff Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-throughput Reverse ETL replication pipelines to bridge core platform systems and client-facing tools
• Evaluate and command strategic decisions regarding data modeling and storage across relational engines, search indexing, and cloud warehouses
• Lead the migration of custom data processing pipelines into a modern, scalable, and secure data architecture
• Partner with Backend and Analytics Engineers to map out performant data structures and ownership boundaries
• Drive operational excellence through proactive monitoring, system reliability, and centralized telemetry
• Set engineering standards and evaluate technical trade-offs to balance innovation with long-term maintainability

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in data platform engineering
• 7+ years of total professional engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Python for custom data loading and validation logic
• Expertise in building automated, event-driven batch architectures and workflow orchestration
• Advanced knowledge of database architecture, including relational (MySQL) and analytical engines (ClickHouse, BigQuery, OpenSearch)
• Experience with observability and telemetry using platforms like Datadog
• Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts and technical designs clearly

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with modern data orchestrators such as Dagster
• Working knowledge of dbt for data transformation
• Domain expertise in e-commerce, retail tech, or ad-tech ecosystems
• Familiarity with reading object-oriented PHP or Laravel frameworks
