Staff C++ Architecture Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-quality C++ and Python tooling for ROS/ROS 2 nodes, libraries, and utilities
• Integrate and support sensors and actuators including cameras, LiDAR, and robot controllers
• Architect scalable, testable subsystems for configuration, state machines, and fault recovery
• Diagnose and resolve performance and scalability challenges
• Develop reusable software components for interfacing with back-end platforms
• Partner with cross-functional teams to create innovative application experiences
• Conduct code reviews and advocate for best practices in safety and reliability

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of industry experience in modern C++ (14/17/20)
• Proven track record of delivering production software components and systems
• Experience with concurrency and real-time programming
• Familiarity with large-scale system design and architecture
• Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee for export control compliance

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or Robotics
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with ROS or ROS 2
• Expertise in debugging real robots and embedded systems
• Proficiency with Linux, CMake/colcon, Git, and CI tools
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures
