About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, evaluation, and optimization of machine learning and statistical models for high-dimensional NGS and genomics datasets
  • Design and implement bioinformatics algorithms to support assay development, quality control, and signal detection
  • Collaborate with wet-lab scientists to design experiments and interpret complex biological results
  • Apply rigorous statistical methods to evaluate assay performance, reproducibility, and robustness
  • Develop reproducible analysis workflows using modern bioinformatics and software engineering practices
  • Work within cloud computing environments to manage and analyze large-scale sequencing datasets
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship to junior team members, and subject matter expertise in NGS bioinformatics

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in bioinformatics within industry or academia
  • 6+ years of experience in the biotech, life science, or pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing statistical and quantitative methods
  • Deep understanding of molecular biology, biochemistry, and next-generation sequencing (NGS)
  • Proven experience in product or assay research, design, or development

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in the biotech or life science industry
  • Practical experience leveraging AI in regulated environments
  • Experience with modern cloud-based MLOps systems
  • Expertise in applying deep learning and advanced statistical learning to complex datasets
  • Previous experience as a project lead or in direct people management
  • Experience working in a molecular diagnostics or GMP/ISO regulated environment
