Staff Battery Engineer

They engineer and manufacture groundbreaking battery materials that increase energy density while reducing size and weight to accelerate the mass adoption of electric vehicles and consumer devices.

Responsibilities

• Advance electrode and cell products from prototype to NPI and commercialization
• Scale up electrodes and execute experiments in multilayer pouch full cells to validate performance and safety
• Work with contract manufacturing partners to transfer pilot line technology to mass production
• Translate design learnings from pouch cells into other form factors through modeling
• Drive cross-functional technical alignment between internal stakeholders and external partners
• Establish and drive failure analysis to identify root causes in prototype and mass production cells
• Apply advanced data analysis and statistical methods to interpret test results and inform design iterations
• Develop new techniques or test methods to detect downstream challenges early

Requirements

• Experience in pilot scale electrode scale up and cell design
• Strong technical background in lithium-ion batteries including slurry, coating, and cell design
• Proficiency in databases and data analysis tools such as JMP or Python
• B.S. in engineering or science with 7+ years of experience (or fewer with an advanced degree)
• Ability to plan and implement multiple projects simultaneously
• Understanding of lab safety best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience with different cell form factors
• Fluency in Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese
• Experience with electrochemical test methods
