Staff Backend Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement robust API services to support a growing European customer base
• Lead architecture designs and contribute to the creation of product roadmaps
• Research and drive the adoption of new technologies and engineering best practices
• Analyze complex ecosystems to determine optimal technical approaches and drive architectural change
• Mentor, coach, and empower engineers to contribute to a high-performing team culture
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to deliver scalable, compliant solutions
• Debug and troubleshoot issues across the entire application stack

Requirements

• Extensive experience in professional backend software development
• Deep expertise in software design patterns and API design
• Proven ability to influence technical direction and architect complex, distributed systems
• Strong understanding of REST, service-based architecture, and distributed systems
• Hands-on experience building services with Java, SQL, and AWS
• Ability to mentor senior peers and amplify team impact through code reviews and technical design
• Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom (visa sponsorship is not available)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Elasticsearch
• Demonstrable knowledge of using AI in a professional engineering environment
• Interest or experience in the financial industry or wealth management
