Staff Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Serve as a central technical expert for the team's services and infrastructure, mentoring other backend engineers.
• Lead the architectural transition from a Ruby monolith to a modern, Go-based microservices architecture.
• Deliver high-impact features by collaborating closely with product managers to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Maintain high code quality and scalability by upholding rigorous coding standards and participating in the architects' forum.
• Drive innovation by identifying system improvements and incorporating customer feedback into technical refinements.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in backend engineering with a proven track record of delivering scalable solutions.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, specifically Ruby, Go, or Node.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS or equivalent cloud infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in designing and managing high-scale, distributed cloud architectures.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment requiring frequent context-switching and deep dives into complex codebases.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Generative AI technologies such as GPT, Copilot, or Cursor.
• Strong ability to reason about existing legacy codebases to derive insights and plan migrations.
