About the Company
Safe Passage Project (SPP) is a highly-focused nonprofit immigration legal services organization that provides free lawyers to immigrant children facing deportation. Founded in 2013, SPP has grown to include 60+ employees and manages over 1,600 open cases a year, supporting thousands of young people in NYC and Long Island.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct representation to Safe Passage Project clients in immigration and related proceedings
- Supervise and mentor pro bono attorneys
- Screen immigrant children and assist in legal screenings organization
- Provide detailed reporting statistics on mentored and represented cases
Requirements
- J.D. degree and admission to a state bar
- Two years of family law or immigration law experience
- Fluency in Spanish
- Understanding of trauma-centered practices for vulnerable populations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Admission to the New York State Bar
