About the Company

API Legal Outreach is the largest social justice legal organization focused on the Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, and immigrant communities of the Greater Bay Area and the Central Valley. Our mission is to provide culturally competent and linguistically appropriate direct services to the most marginalized segments of our community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive legal representation in areas including removal defense, asylum, naturalization, and U, T, and VAWA petitions
  • Conduct legal assessments to screen for potential immigration remedies
  • Represent clients at USCIS interviews and EOIR Immigration Judge hearings
  • Engage in community education, outreach, and staffing clinics
  • Offer technical assistance and training to community and public agencies
  • Represent the organization at meetings with community partners and funders
  • Supervise volunteers, interns, and pro bono attorneys
  • Assist with organizational administrative and fundraising tasks

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of litigation or work experience in low-income communities
  • Membership in good standing of the California or another US Bar
  • Strong commitment to social justice and serving underserved populations
  • Proven advocacy and courtroom skills, especially for LEP clients
  • Ability to work independently and in a multicultural team environment
  • Must reside within 75 miles of the API Legal Outreach office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Legal Server software
  • Possession of a California driver’s license and personal vehicle
  • Proficiency in a second language, such as Spanish, Cantonese, or another API language
