About the Company

API Legal Outreach is the largest social justice legal organization focused on the Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, and immigrant communities of the Greater Bay Area and the Central Valley. Our mission is to provide culturally competent and linguistically appropriate direct services to the most marginalized segments of our community.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal representation to low-income adults 60+ and adults with disabilities in civil law, elder law, and disability rights
• Work in priority areas including immigration, public benefits, domestic violence, housing, and estates
• Conduct community education and outreach
• Staff clinics at accessible sites
• Provide technical assistance and training to community and public agencies
• Represent the organization at community, legal, and funding meetings

Requirements

• At least two years of experience serving low-income, non-English speaking older clients or individuals with disabilities
• Membership in good standing of the California Bar (provisional candidates considered)
• Strong advocacy and courtroom skills representing LEP clients
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice and disadvantaged communities of color
• Proficiency with PC and database systems (Word, Excel, Abacus, or Salesforce)
• Ability to reside within 75 miles of API Legal Outreach offices

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual/bicultural skills in Spanish, Cantonese, or other API languages
