Staff Architect

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve platform architecture across backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure.
• Lead architectural design for complex systems, including workflow orchestration engines, Journey Builders, commerce, and messaging platforms.
• Establish architectural principles, patterns, and standards that scale across teams and products.
• Provide technical leadership for distributed, event-driven backend systems with strong reliability guarantees.
• Guide frontend architecture for complex, high-scale products, ensuring performance and consistency.
• Drive cloud-native design on Google Cloud Platform with a focus on scalability and resilience.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, mentoring senior engineers and influencing cross-team decisions.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience building and operating large-scale, production-grade software systems.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven platforms.
• Strong hands-on background in backend system design using Python or Go.
• Proven experience designing workflow engines, routing systems, or stateful execution platforms.
• Solid understanding of frontend architecture principles and performance considerations.
• Strong cloud architecture experience, preferably on Google Cloud Platform.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to engineering, product, and leadership teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Platform Architect.
• Experience defining internal platform standards adopted by multiple teams.
• Exposure to SRE practices such as SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
• Experience working on revenue-critical, high-traffic, or regulated systems.
