Responsibilities

  • Conduct pedestrian walkover surveys, controlled surface surveys, and hand excavation (shovel testing).
  • Direct archaeological site documentation and maintain accurate field records.
  • Ensure quality control of digital recordation using ArcGIS, AGO, and Trimble platforms.
  • Author technical reports, agency letters, and Section 106 request forms.
  • Oversee the safety of field crews and ensure adherence to project safety protocols.
  • Coordinate project needs and scheduling between Project Managers, clients, and the cultural resource group.
  • Assist with or lead proposal efforts and initial project reviews.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related science.
  • Secretary of the Interior-qualified for Archaeology.
  • Knowledge of federal and state-specific cultural resource guidelines (specifically North Dakota and surrounding states).
  • Proficiency in digital data collection using ArcGIS and AGO platforms.
  • Strong competency in writing detailed archaeological reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience conducting pedestrian surveys and evaluative site testing.
  • Proven track record of guiding Archaeology Field Technicians to ensure quality work products.
  • Experience leading field crews in a professional capacity.
