Staff Archaeologist

Responsibilities

• Conduct pedestrian walkover surveys, controlled surface surveys, and hand excavation (shovel testing).
• Direct archaeological site documentation and maintain accurate field records.
• Ensure quality control of digital recordation using ArcGIS and AGO platforms.
• Author technical reports, agency letters, and Section 106 request forms.
• Oversee the safety of field crews and ensure adherence to project safety protocols.
• Coordinate project needs and scheduling between Project Managers and clients.
• Assist with or lead proposal efforts and initial project reviews.

Requirements

• Graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related science.
• Secretary of the Interior-qualified for Archaeology.
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in pedestrian surveys and evaluative site testing.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state cultural resource guidelines (specifically North Dakota).
• Proficiency in digital data collection using ArcGIS and AGO platforms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical procedures and governmental regulations.
