Staff Android Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of Android CI pipelines and provide support for outages
• Implement distributed caching mechanisms to improve build speed
• Profile build scans to identify trends and failure modes
• Diagnose non-hermetic and non-deterministic build behavior
• Tune builds for containerization and cloud environments
• Define best practices for large-scale build tool use
• Upgrade systems to align with Android build ecosystem best practices

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Deep expertise in DevOps and the Android build ecosystem
• Proven experience with Gradle and Soong
• Knowledge of Bazel, Buck, or similar build systems
• Experience managing massive-scale build architecture
• Strong Git skills including repo tools, submodules, and git-lfs
• Proficiency with Linux, Bash, and Python scripting

Preferred Qualifications

• GitLab CI experience
• Experience with virtualization and containerization (Docker/Podman)
• Experience transitioning legacy build pipelines to modern architectures
