About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting functions for multiple schools and maintain accurate financial record-keeping
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including monthly and yearly closing entries
  • Produce accurate monthly accrual-based financial statements, including balance sheets and P&L
  • Oversee transaction workflows for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management
  • Reconcile bank statements and organization credit card expenses
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
  • Support annual audits and 990 filings with necessary documentation
  • Act as a liaison between schools, the Home Office, bankers, and vendors
  • Lead annual system training for users on the Workday platform

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables)
  • In-depth understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3–4 years of combined experience in accounting
  • Experience in non-profit accounting, fund accounting, or Uniform Guidance
  • Experience working within a multi-site organization or K-12 education environment
  • Advanced experience with ERP software such as Workday, Sage Intacct, or NetSuite
  • Knowledge of GAAP lease standards and non-profit donation rules
