Staff Accountant, Treasury

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced accounting functions including account reconciliations, journal entries, and monthly financial reporting.
• Manage daily treasury operations, including the oversight of ACH, e-checks, and wire transfer transactions.
• Monitor daily banking activity and cash balances to support short-term liquidity planning and operational decision-making.
• Prepare and submit monthly sales tax returns and kilowatt tax filings accurately and timely.
• Support annual audit activities by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls related to cash management, electronic payments, and fraud prevention.
• Act as a subject-matter expert for treasury systems such as Banner and TouchNet.
• Serve as a primary liaison with external banking partners to resolve issues and optimize services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• OR an Associate’s degree with 7 years of relevant accounting/finance experience.
• OR 10 years of relevant accounting/finance experience.
• Proven experience in budget management.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Proficiency in utilizing complex software packages and office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of accounting or finance work experience.
• Knowledge of banking operations, treasury management, and tax compliance.
• Experience using Banner (university ERP system).
• Proven ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
