Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

• Oversee all AP and AR functions, including invoice verification, vendor payments, and collections
• Reconcile client trust accounts in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and credit card transactions
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports
• Manage financial data and transaction recording using QuickBooks or NetSuite
• Utilize advanced Excel functions to develop financial reports and dashboards
• Support audit processes and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA license or active CPA candidate status (actively pursuing licensure)
• Minimum 5+ years of professional accounting experience
• Experience managing high-volume transactions and/or multiple entities
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks or NetSuite
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation)
• Solid understanding of AP/AR processes, financial reporting, and GAAP fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a personal injury law firm or professional services environment
• Familiarity with client trust accounting or IOLTA
• Experience with case management or billing systems such as Litify or Salesforce
