Staff Accountant

General Matter enriches uranium. We are designing, building, and operating the world’s lowest-cost enrichment services, here in the US, to restore America’s ability to produce nuclear fuel for AI, advanced manufacturing, and critical industries.

Responsibilities

• Support core accounting operations, including monthly close, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Design and implement scalable accounting processes, policies, and documentation
• Build and manage the accrual process to ensure accurate and timely expense recognition
• Review open purchase orders and partner with operations and procurement
• Support preparation of internal financial reporting, dashboards, and reconciliations
• Conduct accounting analyses to ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP
• Develop and implement internal controls for a regulated, advanced manufacturing environment
• Track fixed assets, monitor assets placed in service, and support capitalization and depreciation processes
• Provide support for audits, ad hoc analyses, and special projects

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge in US GAAP
• CPA, active or inactive
• Ability to work onsite full-time in Los Angeles, CA
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (QuickBooks is a plus)
• Experience building accounting processes in high-growth or early-stage environments
• Exceptional analytical skills with experience in complex data sets
• Experience in advanced manufacturing, energy, industrial, or technology-driven companies
