Stable Assistant

Responsibilities

• Care for horses to protect their health and improve their appearance
• Manage feeding, watering, supplements, and basic equine first aid
• Handle horse turnout and bring-in procedures
• Clean and bed stalls on a daily basis
• Maintain facility cleanliness and neatness at all times
• Maintain facility equipment, vehicles, and service records
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
• Use tractors with attachments for field, arena, and grounds maintenance
• Perform landscaping duties including weeding, planting, mowing, and shoveling
• Assist with the supervision and training of student workers

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Minimum of 2 years of experience handling horses
• Valid Ohio Driver’s license
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
• Proficiency in verbal and written English
• Ability to work in dusty environments and various weather conditions
