Sr. VoIP Solutions Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain tools and services that support Bandwidth’s worldwide voice network
• Collaborate with peers to build and refactor VoIP networks in a scalable, reliable, and repeatable way
• Lead the evolution of the global voice network by identifying opportunities to optimize or automate
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and solve scaling or capacity problems
• Work closely with developers, SREs, and operational teams to communicate network nuances

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a VoIP Specialist within a carrier network
• Deep understanding of SIP, RTP, and other protocols related to inter-carrier VoIP calling
• Proficiency in Linux troubleshooting and working within IP networks
• Experience with instrumentation, metrics, and observability
• Ability to automate tasks using code to solve problems efficiently
• Experience identifying and resolving scaling and capacity issues

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with vendor solutions like Ribbon and AudioCodes
• Experience with open-source VoIP applications such as Asterisk, Freeswitch, Kamailio, or Opensips
• Proficiency with Python and Ansible for automation
• Experience leveraging AWS or other cloud platforms to deploy VoIP applications
• Familiarity with RDBMS like MySQL or Postgres
