Sr. Technologist – AI Systems & Performance Lab

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead the AI Systems & Performance Lab to identify and eliminate AI bottlenecks
• Define the lab's technical vision, research agenda, and success metrics
• Drive end-to-end analysis of AI training and inference workloads across models, frameworks, and hardware
• Identify performance bottlenecks in compute, memory hierarchy, interconnects, storage, and software layers
• Architect benchmarking, profiling, and workload characterization frameworks
• Partner with hardware and system architecture teams to provide actionable design recommendations
• Provide technical mentorship to a highly skilled team of engineers and researchers

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering (Master's or PhD preferred)
• 15+ years of industry experience in systems engineering, AI infrastructure, or computer architecture
• Deep hands-on experience with AI workloads and frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
• Strong understanding of end-to-end system performance and memory hierarchy
• Proven ability to root-cause performance bottlenecks across heterogeneous systems (CPU, GPU, NPU)
• Demonstrated technical leadership with the ability to influence organizational strategy
• Excellent communication skills for presenting to executive stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in AI systems, computer architecture, or large-scale distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with AI accelerators and their software ecosystems
• Background in developing custom benchmarking or profiling tools
• Familiarity with compiler stacks, runtimes, and low-level performance analysis tools
• Track record of technical thought leadership through patents or publications
