About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead systems engineering, design, and integration for Light Rail Transit (LRT), commuter rail, and conventional train control projects
- Oversee the design of rail systems including signaling, interlockings, ATP, communications, SCADA, and Operations Control Center (OCC) systems
- Manage vehicle system integration to ensure compatibility between onboard systems and wayside infrastructure
- Serve as Systems Integration Manager to coordinate technical interfaces and ensure interoperability among all subsystems
- Develop key deliverables such as system architecture documentation, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and requirements traceability matrices
- Lead interface management across civil, track, systems, vehicle, and communications disciplines
- Direct system-level requirements verification, integration testing, commissioning, and operational readiness
- Mentor and guide multidisciplinary engineering teams while promoting technical excellence
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 15+ years of experience in rail transit systems engineering, systems integration, or signaling
- Proven experience delivering LRT, commuter rail, metro, or heavy rail projects
- Strong expertise with conventional train control and signaling systems
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams on large-scale programs
- Expertise in systems integration, interface management, and testing & commissioning
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with FTA-funded transit projects and alternative delivery methods (Design-Build, PDB, or CM/GC)
- Experience working within live operational rail environments
- Knowledge of rail and transit standards such as AREMA, IEEE, IEC, and NFPA 130
