About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead overall protection design for capital projects and define relay protection functionality in accordance with client standards
- Perform detailed reviews of existing protection schemes, including anti-islanding, generator intertie settings, and SPS schemes
- Review contractor-provided relay settings, logic diagrams (including GOOSE messaging), and operational descriptions
- Lead automation and integration design, including SCADA point indexes and HMI screen reviews
- Perform area relay coordination and provide input to Owner’s Aspen model changes
- Provide technical design support during the implementation, testing, and commissioning phases
- Lead the design of IED Data Maps and substation-level operational descriptions
- Provide guidance and leadership to junior team members while maintaining strict adherence to QA/QC standards
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant post-education experience in electrical engineering, power systems protection, and control
- EIT Certification
- Hands-on experience with IEC 61850/GOOSE protocols
- Proficiency with various engineering design tools and software
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills for technical data analysis
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively via MS Teams and other digital tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering
- Previous experience working within professional consulting firms
