Sr. Substation Commissioning Engineer

Responsibilities

• Verify that Transmission Substation Equipment is commissioned in compliance with project contracts, design feasibility, and supplier requirements.
• Participate in the preparation and maintenance of detailed commissioning schedules and proactively plan for major milestones.
• Execute commissioning efforts to ensure efficient and timely turnover to the client.
• Perform thorough system walk-downs and reviews to establish completion status and identify outstanding items.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Protection System design, settings, testing, and NERC CIP ESP/Security Zone commissioning.
• Oversee the commissioning process, including reviewing and approving documentation, test results, and Relay Calibration and Operation.
• Provide technical and troubleshooting support for relay commissioning test plans.
• Adhere to all safety and quality standards while providing functional direction to technicians and craft staff.

Requirements

• OSHA 10 Hour Training certification.
• Expertise in Protection System design, settings, and commissioning.
• Experience with NERC CIP ESP/Security Zone commissioning.
• Ability to work in high voltage substation environments.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical labor in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• NICET or NETA Certification.
• 5+ years of relevant startup experience.
• Strong knowledge of tools, equipment, and instruments used in power plant performance.
• Proficiency in internal engineering systems and technical principles related to power plants.
