Sr. Software Engineer, AVP II

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, develop, test, and debug software enhancements for Charles River’s business and technical domains.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to translate complex requirements into sustainable software.
• Contribute to product architecture design to ensure scalable and supportable technical solutions.
• Develop and implement applications using Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and SQL.
• Perform code reviews, write unit and automation tests, and conduct manual testing to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Mentor junior developers and help establish engineering best practices within the team.
• Participate in agile ceremonies including daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
• 4 to 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on development experience with Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and SQL.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services (Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, or Wealth Management).
• Proficiency with modern web development, REST APIs, event-driven systems, and object-oriented programming.
• Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Postgres, or Oracle.
• Knowledge of cloud and modernization technologies like Azure, Kubernetes, Kafka, or microservices.
• Familiarity with engineering tools such as Dynatrace, SolarWinds, or the Temporal workflow engine.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot.
• Experience with C# and WinForms for maintaining legacy components.
