Sr. Software Developer (Infrastructure)

Responsibilities

• Design and operate Bandwidth's AI infrastructure layer, including LLM gateways, model routing, and cost controls.
• Build and maintain the "paved road" of developer tooling and platform services to reduce engineering friction.
• Drive adoption of AI coding tools by building enablement systems, prompt libraries, and MCP server integrations.
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing engineering workflows and systems like Jira, Confluence, Slack, and GitHub.
• Measure engineering velocity, build times, and shipping outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
• Stay ahead of emerging trends in agentic workflows to help teams automate repetitive tasks.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and operating web services in a production environment.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, TypeScript, or similar programming languages.
• Experience with platform services such as CI/CD, secrets management, and developer portals.
• Familiarity with LLM APIs and the technical tradeoffs of model routing and token cost management.
• Proven track record of building tools or services that other engineers depend on daily.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building or operating an LLM proxy, AI gateway, or model routing layer.
• Previous experience on a Developer Experience (DevEx) or Software Platform team.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation).
• Experience building MCP servers or integrating AI tools with internal enterprise systems.
• Experience working in high-ambiguity or startup environments.
