Sr Scientist, Biologics Characterization

Responsibilities

• Develop analytical methods and purification protocols to support the characterization of therapeutic proteins and gene therapy vectors.
• Conduct biochemical and biophysical characterization to support development, regulatory submissions, and commercialization.
• Apply DOE, advanced statistics, and risk assessments to optimize methods and processes.
• Author high-quality technical documents, including protocols, reports, memos, and regulatory submission sections.
• Maintain laboratory instruments, troubleshoot experimental issues, and improve data workflows.
• Design and execute experiments to enrich and characterize size/charge variants, complexes, and high-concentration formulations.
• Mentor junior analysts and participate in technology initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field with 8-10+ years of experience, OR a PhD with 0-2+ years of experience.
• Strong laboratory skills in protein separation, purification, and Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF).
• Proficiency in protein/product identification using mass spectrometry.
• Experience with automated FPLC and/or HPLC (SEC, IEX, affinity).
• Proficiency in electrophoresis (capillary or microchip, SDS-PAGE, western blots).
• Experience with spectroscopy and light scattering techniques.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within the biopharmaceutical industry.
• Fundamental understanding of protein structure/function and immunology/immunogenicity.
